September 7 Gurrie Tiger Notes

Supporting your child at home makes a big difference! Encourage them to talk about what they’re learning each day, help them set aside a quiet space and regular time for homework, and celebrate their efforts as much as their achievements. Reading together, asking questions, and showing interest in school events also helps students feel motivated and supported.
Proud to be a Tiger!

September 9th Gurrie Open-House
We’re excited to welcome you to our Open House on Tuesday, September 9 at 6:00 PM! The evening will begin in the gym with a quick introduction and an overview of each department’s curriculum.
Next, parents will head to their child’s advisory classroom for a short overview of advisory and to pick up their student’s schedule. After that, you’ll have the chance to follow your student’s day, visiting classrooms and meeting the teachers who will be guiding their learning this year. This is an Open House, a great opportunity to get to know Gurrie and connect with our staff. Please note that it is not a parent-teacher conference, as teachers are still getting to know your child and won’t yet have detailed academic progress to share.
We look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 9 for a fun and engaging evening at Gurrie!
Our PTO will be holding a fundraiser during Gurrie’s Open House on Tuesday!
For just $2, you can purchase a candy and write a short note. Students will receive their sweet surprise on Wednesday!

D105 Foundation Family Night

Yearbook Ordering:
Please order your child's yearbook early. Ordering a yearbook is important for students and families because it preserves irreplaceable school memories, provides a tangible keepsake for reflection, and offers a unique window into a child's school life. Your child will look back at this yearbook for years to come and be reminded of all the amazing things that they did, accomplished, and were a part of. Yearbooks are $25 and can be purchased in person with either cash or check or online through this website: jostensyearbooks.com
This year we are continuing with having the option to customize their yearbook. This will be an additional cost and is ONLY available online. If you purchased one already in person and would like to switch it to do the customization, please reach out to Mrs. Neadly through either ParentSquare or email: lneadly@d105.net.
If you would like to submit photos for consideration for the yearbook or are wondering if you have purchased a yearbook, please send them to Mrs. Neadly through either ParentSquare or her email: lneadly@d105.net.

Football Game Spectator Information
With a significant number of students, staff, families, and community members attending football games, I want to share important information for spectators.
Ticketing Information for Spectators:
-
Ticket Price: The cost is $5 for all fans with the exception of the following:
District 204 students may enter free of charge when they show their ID.
Senior citizens are free.
Children 5 and under are free.
Digital tickets can be purchased through GoFan.
Spectator Rules/Agreements:
No bags, backpacks, sports bags, tote bags, duffle bags, etc. will be allowed into the stadium during football games (this applies to students and adults).
Once you leave the stadium, there is no re-entry allowed (this applies to students and adults).
No outside beverages are allowed (this applies to students and adults).
-
All middle school students and younger children must be accompanied and supervised by a paid adult with a ticket/pass who is present at the game for the entire time the child is present (maximum four children will be admitted with each adult).
If there is no adult with students younger than high school age, they will not be allowed into the stadium.
A child not in the presence of an adult or who cannot find their supervising adult will be required to contact a parent/guardian and be picked up from the game immediately.
Parking at LTHS South Campus
Please note that the significant amount of construction that is still occurring at South Campus this year will impact parking for large scale events, including football games. With parking on campus being limited, we ask that those attending games consider carpooling or walking when possible.
Parking at Garden Market is prohibited. Garden Market Management has communicated that they will tow cars that are using the lot without authorization.
PTO Information
We are so fortunate to have an amazing PTO that provides invaluable support to our students, staff, and families. Please consider joining this amazing work!

- EMM Club: The first meetings will be held on Tuesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10. Students interested in joining only need to attend one meeting.
-
Cross Country Highlights:
- The girls’ team earned a 1-point victory over Jane Addams, led by strong finishes from Cate Riberto (3rd), Kennedy Hartman (4th), and Sydney Hartman (5th). Several teammates followed close behind with top-10 finishes, making it a strong showing all around.
- The boys’ team was led by Grant Vongluekiat (2nd place overall), with strong performances by Colin Blentlinger (6th), Ryker Santiago (7th), and newcomers Spencer Borling (5th grade) and Connor Sand (7th grade) finishing in the top 12. We are so proud of all our runners!
- Back to School Night Volunteers: Ms. Sutkus is looking for student volunteers to help with face painting at Back to School Night. Volunteers will earn service hours. Interested students should email or stop by the art room.
- School Musical: The students have voted, and this year’s musical will be Aladdin! The interest meeting will be in December. Students with questions can see Mrs. Neadly in Room 209B.
