September 14 Gurrie Tiger Notes

This Friday, Gurrie will host our Activity Fair for students! The fair is a wonderful opportunity for students to explore all the extracurricular clubs and sports available at school. We encourage every student to find at least one activity that sparks their interest, whether it’s athletics, arts, leadership, or service.
Spending a few minutes debriefing with your child after the fair can go a long way in helping them reflect on what they learned and understand the importance of getting involved. Participation in activities builds friendships, confidence, and school spirit, and we’re excited to see our Tigers discover new ways to grow outside the classroom.

This Wednesday, we will have our first Fire Drill with the LaGrange Fire Department. Fire drills are a critical part of keeping our school community safe, as they help students and staff know exactly what to do in an emergency. Practicing together ensures that everyone can respond quickly, calmly, and safely if the need ever arises.
First Home Girls' Basketball Game
We are excited to host our first Girls' Basketball Game here at Gurrie against Willow Springs at 4:15 p.m. We welcome our community to join us, and our PTO will also have great snacks available for purchase.
Please remember that student safety is our top priority. Gurrie students who plan to watch the game must remain at Gurrie. They are welcome to spend time in the Library while they wait for the game to begin or in the Gym bleachers after 3:30 p.m. Once students leave school grounds, they are no longer under our supervision. For their safety, if a student leaves, they must be accompanied by an adult. This rule ensures that all students remain in a safe and supervised environment until the game begins.
PTO Meeting
Please join us for our first PTO meeting on September 16 at 6:00 pm. Our PTO does incredible work to support our school, and this is a fantastic way to get involved and stay connected with all that is happening at Gurrie.
At Gurrie, we encourage students to keep their phones turned off and stored in their lockers during the school day. However, as long as phones are not visible and not in use, they meet our school policy.
This expectation helps minimize distractions, encourages students to stay engaged with learning, and promotes positive interactions with their peers. If you need to reach your child during the day, please call the main office, and we will make sure your message is delivered.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our Tigers focused and ready to learn each day.

Pleasentview's Safety Day - September 27

Please order your child's yearbook early. If you order your yearbook by September 26th, the yearbook will be $20. That is a $5 savings! After September 26th, the price will increase to $25, so order yours soon!
Ordering a yearbook is important for students and families because it preserves irreplaceable school memories, provides a tangible keepsake for reflection, and offers a unique window into a child's school life. Your child will look back at this yearbook for years to come and be reminded of all the amazing things that they did, accomplished, and were a part of. Yearbooks are $25 and can be purchased in person with either cash or check, or online through this website: jostensyearbooks.com
This year, we are continuing with the option to customize their yearbook. This will be an additional cost and is ONLY available online. If you have already purchased one in person and would like to switch to the customization option, please reach out to Mrs. Neadly through either ParentSquare or email: lneadly@d105.net.
If you would like to submit photos for consideration for the yearbook or are wondering if you have purchased a yearbook, please send them to Mrs. Neadly through either ParentSquare or her email: lneadly@d105.net.

Football Game Spectator Information
With a significant number of students, staff, families, and community members attending football games, I want to share important information for spectators.
Ticketing Information for Spectators:
-
Ticket Price: The cost is $5 for all fans with the exception of the following:
District 204 students may enter free of charge when they show their ID.
Senior citizens are free.
Children 5 and under are free.
Digital tickets can be purchased through GoFan.
Spectator Rules/Agreements:
No bags, backpacks, sports bags, tote bags, duffle bags, etc. will be allowed into the stadium during football games (this applies to students and adults).
Once you leave the stadium, there is no re-entry allowed (this applies to students and adults).
No outside beverages are allowed (this applies to students and adults).
-
All middle school students and younger children must be accompanied and supervised by a paid adult with a ticket/pass who is present at the game for the entire time the child is present (maximum four children will be admitted with each adult).
If there is no adult with students younger than high school age, they will not be allowed into the stadium.
A child not in the presence of an adult or who cannot find their supervising adult will be required to contact a parent/guardian and be picked up from the game immediately.
Parking at LTHS South Campus
Please note that the significant amount of construction that is still occurring at South Campus this year will impact parking for large scale events, including football games. With parking on campus being limited, we ask that those attending games consider carpooling or walking when possible.
Parking at Garden Market is prohibited. Garden Market Management has communicated that they will tow cars that are using the lot without authorization.
PTO Information
We are so fortunate to have an amazing PTO that provides invaluable support to our students, staff, and families. Please consider joining this amazing work!

Back to School Night Volunteers: A huge thank you to our fantastic student volunteers who helped make Back-to-School Night a great success!
